Tuesday, August 19:  Meet at PHS in the presentations room at 7:30 a.m.  Discuss class policies and expectations.  Walk to Exchange Park at 11:00 and participate in a workshop relating to bike maintenance.  Lunch is at 1:00.  Get into taxonomy groups.  Parent form is due on Thursday.

Thursday, August 21:  Measurement with metrics, length.  Use centimeter and meter sticks to measure several objects.  Complete the handout about metrics.  Due in class next time.

Monday, August 25:  Bring bike and helmet and leave for CLASS Ropes at 7:30 a.m.  Bring lunch and water bottle.

Wednesday, August 27: Bring bike and helmut and leave for Utah Lake State Park at 7:30 a.m.  Bring lunch and water bottle.  Bring book pack, pencil, notebook.  We will be doing an oreienteering activity at the Lake.

Friday, August 29:  Classroom day.  Complete assignment about graphing.  Hand in at the end of class.  Begin discussion about constellations. 

Wednesday, Sept 3:  Bike to the Provo River and complete the following:  Greenline Survey, Canopy Cover, Ground Cover.  Quiz on Friday about these.

Friday, Sept 5: Bike to Utah Lake/Provo River.  Work on projects and assignment about biotic vs. abiotic factors.

Tuesday, Sept 8: Receive Ecology Books.  Read all of Chapter 1 and define the bold-yellow terms in notes.  Complete the Chapter 1 test on pgs 32-33.  This is due on Thursday.

Thursday, Sept 10: Chapter 2 in the Ecology Book.  Complete the mini lab on page 38.  Complete Applying Math on page 40.  Read all of the chapter and define the bold-yellow terms in your notes.  Quiz--Biotic vs Abiotic Factors.

Tuesday, Spet 30:  LCC field trip.  Complete the assignment about abiotic and biotic factors.

Thursday, Oct 2: Correct assignments from field trip and stellar classification.  DVD assignment--stars and universe.

Monday, Oct 7: Field Trip--Rock Canyon, quiz, notes.

Wednesday, Oct 9: Body World in SLC

Thursday, August 27: Read pgs. 758-763.  Participate in class activity about phases of the moon.  Begin Moon Phase Journal.  Complete Teacher's Domain Activity: The Origin of the Moon and Phases of the Moon.  Answer the questions pertaining to it.

Tuesday, Sept 2: Receive Star Wheel.  Learn the following constellations for next time: Orion, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cygnus, Sagittarius, Scorpius, Lyra.  Begin Moon Phase project, for next 28 days.  Complete the planet assignment.  There will be a quiz on Thursday.  This quiz will be about the constellations, phases of the moon, seasons, and metrics.

Thursday, Sept 4: Take the quiz--phases of the moon, constellations, seasons, and metrics.  Lab activity pertaining to Kepler's Laws.  Teacher's Domain Assignment:  Galileo, Discovering Jupiter's Moon.  This is due on Monday, Sept 6.

Monday, Sept 8:  Read pgs. 775-777.  Take notes from this chapter about planetary orbits and Kepler's First Law.  Complete the lab: Eccentricity.  Teacher's Domain Assignments:  1.  What is a planet and 2.  Galileo, Sun-centered system.  Both of these are due on Monday, Sept. 15.

Wednesday, Sept 10: Read pgs. 778-779.  Take notes from this chapter about Kepler's 2nd and 3rd Laws.  Complete the assignments, Kepler's 2nd and 3rd Laws.

Monday, Sept 15:  Complete in class lab about emission spectra.  Hand in at end of class.
